​Mission

​Neighborhood Building Urban Gardens (B.U.G.) is a non-profit organization that provides Detroit residents with high quality, organic and locally grown produce to promote sustainable healthy living.  This is done by combining urban farming, job development, and community involvement to provide fresh produce, job opportunities and leadership to Detroit residents.

​Jessica Patton - Founder/President 
Jessica also a native Detroiter responsibilities include program and curriculum development; marketing; fundraising; and the administrative duties. She is also the Program and IT Manager with Green Door Initiative , a workforce development program with an environmental focus. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University and an MIS (Master of Computer Information Systems) from the University of Phoenix. She has also volunteered with: Village Health Worker’s, a program that promotes the advancement of healthy communities; Community Action Against Asthma, a collaboration between scholastic organizations, health agencies, and community-based organizations; and the Detroit Black Community Food Security Network which addresses food insecurity and facilitates community members playing a more active leadership role in the local food security movement. ​
